Yippee skippee, LIFE IS FANTASTIC (DOT COMMMMM)
If you missed the convention in Titusville, then I am sorry for you. We had a great time. Unfortunately, Paola and the kids could not come (George was sick), but I experienced one of the best conventions with the FAA in my life (and I have been coming since the early 1970”s).
Yes, the food was fantastic, the service was excellent, the programs were informative and it was great seeing Jena, Debbie, Chris, Stan, Frank, Kurt, Cliff, Richard, Julie, Duck, Cracker, Rick, Fred, Gayle, Jim, Don, Liza, Roy, Michael, Reed, Randy, Rose, K.C., Deana, Little, Win, and everyone else, who’s name escapes my ancient memory at this moment.
I am grateful to have won the bid calling championship, and was quite surprised, as I felt that there was a more talented bid caller and he should have been the recipient. I have been competing in this contest since the early 1980′s, back in the day when we had two contests, one at the convention and the second at the state fair in Tampa and I am reminded of a quote to Press On:
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

Then, with great joy from winning the bid calling contest I found that I also won the very valuable prize from one of the vendors at the trade show, which had very interesting and high caliber vendors. Thank you Jenny at Advertising Networks of Florida. It just goes to show that if you do not attend and participate, you surely will not win, but when you do, Life is Fantastic!
As Kurt Chana will tell you Life is Fantastic, and it really is. I find that when I have a good attitude going into a situation, wether that be listing an auction or bid calling, then everything else falls into place. I call it being in the zone. Do you ever get that feeling? Everything is going great, you feel healthy and happy…that heavenly feeling where everything is in alignment and all is well. I am in that zone now. I also find that when I am in this “zone” things go better in the office, at home with the family and with my social life. So, the question is…how to get into the zone, and stay there.
My solution is through prayer and meditation. I would be interested in knowing other ways of getting into and staying into the zone, and you can always email me at neal@vanderee.com .
Good luck this year, fellow Colonels! I know that this year will be one of if not THE very best for me. How will you make your year?
Sincerely,
